Bishop Dorsey Celebrates an Advent Mass at Lake Correctional Institution


On Tuesday evening, December 19, Bishop Norbert Dorsey celebrated a special Advent Mass for the inmates at Lake Correctional Institution in Clermont. The Advent Mass was arranged by The Criminal Justice Office - Diocese of Orlando Directed by Thomas Gillan. Bishop Dorsey was assisted by Brother Augustine Lowe, C.P. and music was provided by Prison & Jail Ministry Volunteer, Patrick Cavanaugh.

Superintendent, Robert Whidden welcomed Bishop Dorsey at the enterance to the Institution and Chaplain Alonzo Young greeted the Bishop at the Chapel and provided his photography services during the visit. About 74 men attended the Advent Mass along with Prison and Jail Ministry Director Tom Gillan and Volunteer Edward Checefsky.
Bishop Dorsey's homily included a message of hope, love and peace. He promised to include each of them and their families in his prayers during the celebration of the Midnight Christmas Mass at the Cathedral.

After the celebration of Mass Bishop Dorsey personally greeted and blessed each man. Tom Gillan presented each with a book of prayers to encourage hope, reconciliation, forgiveness and peace.
