The
Need
Every two seconds a crime strikes somewhere and someone.
At some point in our lives, 98 percent of us will be victims
of crime or violence. Behind the numbers and statistics
are human beings. Lives that have been turned upside down.
People who feel broken, violated and damaged. Some ask themselves,
"Why did this happen to me?"
Your Life
Has Changed
Whether you have been physically hurt, your house broken
into, your property stolen…whatever the crime, your life
has been violated. Emotional and financial injuries can
be just as devastating as physical wounds. When this happens,
it's normal to feel angry, vulnerable, off balance, afraid.
It's a normal reaction to an abnormal situation.
When Jesus
announced the second greatest commandment - Love your
neighbor as you yourself - a lawyer asked for clarification:
Jesus told the lawyer the following true to life story….
A man was beaten and robbed, and left to die on the side
of the road. Two passersby went out of their way to ignore
him. A third man - a Samaritan- went out of his way to
help. He bandaged the victim's wounds, took care of him
all night, and provided for ongoing aid. "Which one
was the man's neighbor? Jesus turned the question back
to the lawyer. "The one who was kind to him,"
the lawyer replied. "Go then," said Jesus, "and
do the same."
